Sponsorship of our residents

Our sponsors are the lifeblood of the sanctuary. Due to the horrid places that most of our animals come from, our vet, feed, straw and care costs are consistently high.

Sponsors give us the assurance of being able to determine just how many animals we can help, without risking the health and safety of those that we are already caring for.

Our individual sponsors benefit from watching their animal enjoy the hills and paddocks of the farm when visiting us for one of their unlimited private visits (which includes friends and family).

All our amazing sponsors are invited to join us for exclusive events and benefit from reduced prices for general access events.

Sponsorship amounts vary according to species.

Our monthly sponsorship rates are set out below:

Chicken/Rooster - $30aud/month

Duck/Goose - $40aud/month

Sheep/Goat - $60aud/month

Cattle - $90aud/month

Pig - $110aud/month

Howard

Howard is the big man of the pig barn, weighing in at 320kg.

Howard was bred to be slaughtered for meat when he was 3 months old, so he has been genetically designed to grow very large very quickly. He has some obesity-related breathing issues and isn’t terribly active.

In fact, Howard for as long as we can remember has been a once a day guy. He eats three out of four meals each day in bed, and just gets up once a day to eat and then go to the bathroom.

His favourite thing is sleeping, but occasionally we find him 500 metres away in one of the big dams, so he clearly gets the occasional urge to be active! Despite his huge weight and breathing issues, he walks up the sanctuary hills just fine.

Howard has a beautiful nature and just loves his belly rubs. He is always happy and, if he is awake, greets visitors as they come in the door.

Richard

Richard was being transported for export but managed to escape during an interchange with companions Henry and James.

Richard is the all-round good guy of the herd. Most of the time he can be found chilling in the sun with Henry and James, he is definitely the most chilled out of the goats and loves a little bit of a pat, but not too much.

Richard has an allergic skin condition which has to be treated from time to time, but other than that he’s a perfectly healthy guy

Eve

Eve arrived with her two daughters after they had all been badly affected by worm burdens. Lily, her youngest, was very sick and we had to separate them for a few weeks.
