Vickie + Jarrod - the goats

Three month old orphans, these guys had been seen in a port area for quite a while before our talented volunteers manage to catch them and bring them to safety.

We don’t know how these babies got there. Whether they were the unwanted offspring from goat mothers being exported live, unwanted arrivals at a slaughterhouse, or perhaps some other circumstance we will never know.

What we do know is that they survived the Winter, alone, with no one to protect them and managed to find sufficient amounts of food while avoiding anything toxic. They are indeed two little, but very independent, miracles.

After they arrived at the sanctuary and were finally safe, we provided them with a comfortable place to sleep that had a view of the sanctuary goat herd. As soon as they glimpsed the first goat coming over the hill they started bleating as loudly as they could. This was followed by a pandemonium of greetings and curiosity.

The excitement these babies felt at meeting the adult goat herd reminded us of just how much babies like these suffer when they are forcibly removed from their mothers leaving no protection, no security, no guidance, cold and alone in a world full of danger.

Now that they are here Vickie and Jarrod will have a wonderful life of freedom and companionship.

We are excited to give these babies the life that humans had denied them. We look forward to watching them grow and flourish with your support.
